Position Overview

The Lube Technician role at Quick Lube of Carolina LLC / Take 5 Oil Change is an entry-level position designed to familiarize new team members with our service standards, procedures, and customer-focused philosophy. This position serves as the foundation for advancement, with certification as a Certified Technician expected within 45 days of hire.

In this role, you will learn and assist with our Full-Service Oil Change process, perform routine vehicle maintenance, and deliver fast, friendly, and professional service to every customer.

Key Responsibilities

• Learn and adhere to standard operating procedures for oil changes and related services
• Assist with vehicle maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid top-offs
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
• Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth workflow
• Provide an exceptional and professional customer experience
• Complete required Rally Point training modules to achieve Certified Technician status

Certification Path:

As a Certified Technician, you will:

• Demonstrate proficiency in all positions involved in the Full-Service oil change
• Uphold standards of integrity, efficiency, and transparency
• Lead by example in delivering exceptional customer service
• Support team performance and mentor new technicians

The Assistant Shop Manager (ASM) role at Quick Lube of Carolina LLC / Take 5 Oil Change allows you to continue developing your technical skills (approximately 80% of your time) while learning the leadership and operational skills necessary to manage a shop. This position is a critical step on the path to becoming a Shop Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform all technician duties, including draining motor oil, changing oil filters, greasing chassis fittings, washing windshields, and adjusting tire pressure
• Inspect and top off vehicle fluids
• Assist customers in selecting oil types and additional services
• Process payments for services performed
• Perform coolant exchanges and transmission drain & fill services
• Maintain inventory levels and restock supplies on the shop floor
• Keep the shop, office, and restrooms clean and organized
• Check in with customers before they leave to ensure a great experience
• Ensure proper store operation in the absence of the Shop Manager
• Perform opening and closing procedures
• Assist with inventory counting and adjustments
• Serve as a role model to other employees, supporting team culture without direct responsibility for hiring or firing

• Spend approximately 80% of time performing technical work
• Learn leadership, scheduling, and operational skills
• Support shop management and daily operations
• Prepare for promotion to Shop Manager

Lead Technician

Lead Technicians are nominated by the Store Manager and approved by a certified training Store Manager. This role sets the standard for technical excellence and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform vehicle services with advanced technical skill
• Model professionalism, punctuality, and proper uniform standards
• Assist with leadership duties as needed
• Complete all required training per the Lead Tech Training Manual

Lead Technicians are considered the next step toward promotion to Assistant Shop Manager.

Lube Technician

This is an entry-level position designed to introduce team members to our service standards and customer-first approach.

• Assist with Full-Service Oil Change processes
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance on various makes and models

Lead Technicians set the standard for all technicians by consistently demonstrating superior technical skills, professionalism, and reliability. While not a manager, Lead Technicians may assume management responsibilities as needed and are considered the next in line for promotion to Assistant Shop Manager.

Lead Technicians are expected to be punctual, maintain proper uniform standards, and perform vehicle services on a variety of makes and models with technical excellence. Completion of all relevant training courses and adherence to the Lead Tech Training Manual is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical standard for all technicians by consistently performing high-quality service on most makes and models of vehicles
• Maintain punctuality and professionalism, including wearing the proper uniform at all times
• Complete all required training courses and learning plans on Rally Point
• Perform all technician duties accurately and efficiently, including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid top-offs, and other light maintenance services
• Assist in training and mentoring less experienced technicians
• Support the management team by assuming leadership responsibilities when necessary
• Uphold company policies and promote a safe, clean, and efficient work environment
• Communicate effectively with team members and customers to ensure exceptional service
• Maintain inventory and restock supplies as needed
